Ohio City Flag History
Upon visiting Toronto’s historic Cabbagetown, a neighborhood fine artist and Ohio City Redevelopment Association board member were impressed that the community had its own flag widely available to its residents. Working together on the concept, they designed several versions of the flag while their friends and other board members spearheaded the project by traveling to Columbus to work on neighborhood research. In the end, one special version of the flag stood out from the rest by integrating it with the one of a kind Ohio pennant flag. This unique Ohio City flag showcased the original City of Ohio seal, and a committee at the Ohio City Redevelopment Association eventually selected it as the official Ohio City flag. Upon approval of the flag, another neighborhood resident incorporated the seal into the famous “Pie Slice” design that currently sits atop street signs throughout the neighborhood, giving the community a cohesive and memorable historic appeal.
