Ohio City Improvement District
The Ohio City Improvement Corporation (OCIC) is a special improvement district (SID) that leverages investments made by property owners in the area of Ohio City. Ohio City’s commercial district is comprised of an eclectic mix of stores, restaurants, residences, and other businesses. OCIC’s commercial boundaries now extend throughout the neighborhood, creating three vibrant and growing commercial corridors down West 25th Street, Detroit Avenue, and Lorain Avenue. The services offered in the Ohio City Improvement District are available to all people in the District, whether you live here, work here, are just visiting, or passing through.
Ohio City is walkable and transit-friendly so many residents and visitors navigate the neighborhood without a vehicle. To ensure the neighborhood remains accessible year-round, OCIC provides sidewalk snow removal in the District. All sidewalks, ADA ramps, bus stops, and crosswalks are cleared of snow and ice throughout the winter.
Ohio City's Clean & Safe Ambassadors provide services that include patrolling the district, removing litter and graffiti, providing safety escorts, motor vehicle assistance, addressing public disturbances, homeless outreach, Ohio City’s safety camera program, security patrols, public space maintenance, beautification projects, and greeting and assisting people in the District. OCIC contracts with Block by Block to employ ambassadors in the district. Ambassadors are on-duty seven days per week.
